Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA – Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian announced that a joint specialized and technical committee with Omanese Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Water Resources will be formed soon to explore grounds for bilateral cooperation.
The committee will plan for Iranian companies’ presence in Oman in the field of building dams.
On the sidelines of meeting with Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Water Resources of Oman Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Shuhi here on Tuesday, Chitchian told reporters that the two sides have decided to establish a specialized and technical committee to examine ways of promoting mutual cooperation.
Chitchian stressed that both sides would exchange experiences in the field of water resources, research, law and regulations.
Referring to successful presence of Iranian companies in Oman, he added that Iranian companies active in water resources management areto sign contracts with Oman.
Oman, like other countries of the Persian Gulf, has good experiences on use of desalination plants, and because of similarity between Iran and Oman, Iranian officials try to use such experiences, Chitchian said.
Al-Shuhi, referring to his good negotiations with Iran’s energy minister said that his country has plenty of programs for wider cooperation with Iran in the filed of water resources.
He added that Oman wants to use Iran’s experiences in the field of dam construction and power transmission lines, so both countries have expanded cooperation in this field.
He underlined that Oman is also interested in the activities of Iranian private sector firms in the country.
